When President Muhammadu Buhari left Nigeria for London on January 19 for a 10-day vacation, no one knew it was going to turn into a major national discourse.

The president has since extended his leave indefinitely on medical grounds.

In his absence, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has been acting on his behalf.

There have been speculations about the president’s health and some Nigerians are still confused over what is going on. The presidential aides have not helped as they have ended up confusing Nigerians more with their conflicting statements.

Some Nigerians are at that point where they feel they are being taken for fools by the presidency.Buhari has been calling people in Nigeria from London and some people are wondering why he cannot address Nigerians through a live video call. Out of the millions of people in Nigeria expecting his call, Buhari has called a few people close to him.

Here is what we know about Buhari’s phone calls from London.

1. He called the Emir of Katsina

On February 26, Buhari placed a telephone call from London to the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Usman, over the death of his mother. He urged him to take solace in the fact that his mother lived a good life.

2. Call to the presidential team

On Saturday February 25, he put a call through to the presidential media team.
3. Femi Adesina excited by Buhari’s call

At exactly 2.43pm on February 25, the called his special adviser on media and publicity Femi Adesina, who described it as a defining moment for him because it was the first time he was speaking with his boss since he left for London.
4. Garba Shehu thanks Buhari for calling

Garba Shehu, the senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, missed his call that same day but received an SMS from him.

5. Dramatic phone conversation between Buhari and Governor Ganduje

On February 25, he called and spoke with Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state during a program of special prayer session organised by the state government for his quick recovery and safe return to the country.

6. Buhari calls again to condole with the bereaved

Just after speaking with Donald Trump, Buhari called from London on February 14, to condole with former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Dr. Adamu Fika over the death of his wife Hajiya Tasallah Fika.

7. Buhari is hale and hearty, Osinbajo assures Nigerians

On February 6, he spoke with Osinbajo where he asked about the budget process and how far they have gone. He was also given feedback on the protest marches rocking the country and what people were saying about the economy.

8. Saraki joins the list

On February 9, Senate president Bukola Saraki announced that he spoke with the president who was in god spirits and cracked jokes.9. Dogara was not left out

That same day, the speaker of the House of Representatives received a call from Buhari who told him to extend his greetings all honourable members.
10. Buhari mourns with his minister

He called on Monday night, January 30, from London to commiserate with the Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung on the death of his wife, Briskila Dalung. He prayed that God will grant the soul of the departed eternal rest.

11. Buhari speaks with his vice

On January 23, he spoke with Osinbajo who briefed him on national and other issues affecting the country.
